John Cogdell

John Cogdell (~1678-~1711) m. Unknown had sons:

George (~1698-4/1761, Wayne Co, NC)
Charles (10/22/1701-7/1783, Dobbs Co, NC)

John Cogdell was killed during the Tuscarora War and George and Charles chose George Bell as their guardian and were indentured to him until the age of 21 during which time George Bell was responsible for the boys to be taught to read and write.

George m. (1722, Beaufort, Carteret Co, NC) Margaret Bell (b. 1706 Beaufort, Carteret Co, NC) and they had a son:

David (b.6/18/1753, Wayne Co, NC) m. Anne UNK (b.abt 1757, Wayne Co, NC)and they had a son:

Daniel (3/16/1779, Wayne Co, NC-4/12/1859, TN) m. Penelope Sutton (b. abt 1783, Wayne Co, NC)


Charles (s/o John) m. Mary Shackleford (d/o James Shackleford and Elizabeth Robbins) and they 2 children:

Sarah (1725-1760, Carteret Co, NC) m Richard Rustull, Jr (1700-1747, Carteret Co, NC) and they had 3 children:

Sarah m. Samuel Willis(ton) -- shortened to Willis abt 1800
