Thomas Alley

Notes for THOMAS ALLEY:

" Rebels and Redcoats"-"Buford's Defeat" was at the Waxhow of North Carolina or near the NC line, "113 Americans were killed on the field. 150 were maimed so badly that Tarleton was obliged to parole them where they lay. In the summer twilight they were loaded into wagons and carried to the church of the Waxhows, where the good Irishwomen of the neighborhood dressed their wounds and comforted the dying. Only 53 of Buford's men survived Tarlatan's bayonets and swords to be taken prisoner. Tarleton's loss was 5 killed, 14 wounded."
