1. William ROSE,1,2,3 son of Thomas ROSE, Sr. and Elizabeth SEWARD, was born about 1729 in , Surry County, Virginia 4,5 and died after 1 December 1768 in , Granville County, North Carolina.6,7

• He was involved in a court case about trespass assault and battery on 21 April 1743 in , Surry County, Virginia. 8,9 Suit brought by Thomas Pate against John Turner. Thomas Rose and William Rose were witnesses for Thomas Pate, who was ordered to pay each Rose 185 lbs tobacco for his one day attendance and 90 mile round-trip, probably from Brunswick County.

Jr. 28 April 1753. Freese notes that this property must have extended to the county line that was common to Mecklenburg County, Virginia, as William Rose's line is used as a boundary in a deed in Mecklenburg County VA in 1757.
